Rabble Mill Hosts Biggest Fundraiser of the Year
LINCOLN, Nebraska - The Fourth Annual Skate Art Music Anti-Gala took place at The Bay of Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday, August 25th. Rabble Mill hosted the fundraising event. There was a $20 suggested donation, and proceeds went towards Rabble Mill’s mission to end generational poverty. This Anti-Gala is noted as the Midwest’s largest skateboarding/music festival.
The day began with various skateboarding competitions for skaters of all skill levels. 36 top-tier skateboarders from across the Midwest then competed for $4,500 in prize money. The festival featured Screaming Females, a rock trio from New Jersey that headlined the music portion of the event. An additional 10 local musicians performed. Local artists held workshops and spoke about digital art, photography, acting, and digital music production. Games such as a photo booth, dunk tank, and token toss were available. Lincoln Zipline Brewing Co. brought an outdoor beer garden. The Bay’s cafe also provided food as well as various food trucks. This was the first year that the event took place at The Bay rather than the Railyard in the Haymarket.
Event coordinator Kate Smith spoke about the success of the fundraiser. “We had an incredible turn-out. It’s great that so many people are inspired by local talent.”
Rabble Mill is a multi-faceted education, outreach, and multimedia nonprofit that aims to end generational poverty. Rabble Mill was created in January of this year when The BAY and Hear Nebraska officially merged. The organization enables children to discover their passions across subcultures, including skateboarding, music, and art.
